Abstract:

Background: Tubal ligation is one of the most common contraceptive methods in the world. Some researchers believe that tubal ligation has complications. It is assumed oxidative stress can produce these complications. The aim of this study was to evaluate oxidative stress and ovarian function after tubal ligation. Materials and Methods: In this study, female rats (weighting 200-250 g) were divided into 2 groups (tubal ligation and Sham). Serum (Prooxidant Antioxidant Balance), MDA (Malondialdehyde), estradiol and progesterone were measured on days 15 and 45 and 3 months and 6 months after the intervention in diestrous phase. Results: After tubal ligation, serum MDA increased however serum PAB increased after 15 days, 45 days, 3 months and then decreased after 6 months (p<0.05). Serum concentration of estradiol decreased remarkably, after 15 and 45 days (p<0.05). Serum concentration of progesterone decreased remarkably, after 15 days, 45 days, 3 months and 6 months in tubal ligation group compared to the sham group (p<0.05). Conclusion: Tubal ligation increased oxidative stress level and decreased estradiol and Progesterone of serum. Complications of tubal ligation may be due to increased oxidants and decreased estrogen and progesterone. As for the tubal ligation probably reduced serum estrogen levels, as a potent antioxidant, is involved in imbalance. By prescribing antioxidant, effects of tubal ligation can be reduced.

Effects of bilateral tubal sterilization on serum oxidative stress and ovarian hormones in female rats

Introduction: Tubal Sterilization (TS) is one of the most common contraceptive methods. Some researchers believe that TL has complications, whereas there are contradictory reports about TS effects on ovarian function. The aim of this study was to evaluate the indices of oxidative stress and survey ovarian function after TS. Methods: The study groups consisted of 63 Sprague Dawley female rats. T...

The Effect of Ligation of the Ovarian Artery on Ovarian Follicular Function in Rats

In the present study was performed to evaluate the follicular growth and hormonal changes after ovarian artery ligation in rats. Fifty six virgin 90-day–old female rats were used. The rats were chosen from 100 female rats by a vaginal smear, which showed that they were synchronized in estrous phase of the menstrual cycle. Animals were kept in seven cages (n=8 in each) at a temperature of 22 ± 2...

P-147: Ovarian Function over Time in Adult Rats after Tubal Sterilization

Background: Tubal sterilizatio (TS) is a widely applied contraceptive method worldwide. Although most studies have described sterilization as a safe method, there are reports of TS complications. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of TS on ovarian function. Materials and Methods: The study comprised of 2 protocols A and B. A Protocol: survey ovarian hormone and B protocol: study ...

Chronopharmacological effects of growth hormone on the executive function and oxidative stress response in rats

Objective(s): to investigate the chronopharmacological effects of growth hormone on executive function and the oxidative stress response in rats. Materials and Methods: Fifty male Wistar rats (36-40 weeks old) had ad libitum access to water and food and were separated into four groups: diurnal control, nocturnal control, diurnal GH-treated, and nocturnal GH-treated animals. Levels of Cu, Zn sup...

on translation of politeness strategies in dialogues involving female characters in translations and retranslations of novels translated before and after the islamic revolution of iran and their effects on the image of women: a polysystem theory approach

abstract reception environment has considerable effects on accepting a translation. as the expectations of a target culture and its values and needs change throughout history, its criteria for accepting a translation or rejecting it will change accordingly (gentzler, 2001). the expectations of iran, as the reception environment in the present study, have changed after the islamic revolution. i...
